Why Consider Chime Card?

Spending is tied to the funds shown as available in the secured account.

  • Credit Bureau Reporting

On-time monthly payment activity can contribute to a credit history over time.

  • Safer Credit Building Option

An optional feature can use set-aside funds to pay the monthly balance automatically.

  • Eligible Cash-Back Benefits

Qualifying direct deposits can unlock cash back and other account benefits under current terms.

Understanding How the Chime Credit Card Works

Independent information explaining the secured structure now offered as Chime Card™.

Chime Card™ is the updated credit-building product that follows the original Chime Credit Builder concept. It is a secured credit card, which means the funds placed in the linked secured deposit account determine the amount available to spend. The card does not provide a traditional preset revolving credit limit.

Because purchases are supported by money already available in the account, Chime does not charge interest on the card. There is also no annual fee and no minimum security deposit requirement. A Chime account is required, and eligibility, account access, and other conditions are governed by the current Chime terms.

Chime reports monthly payment information to Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Consistent on-time payments may help build credit history, although results are not guaranteed and activity elsewhere on a person’s credit report can also affect scores.

The optional Safer Credit Building feature can use money already set aside to pay the monthly balance automatically. Chime Card may also offer cash back in an eligible category when the required direct-deposit and membership conditions are met. Those rewards and thresholds should be confirmed in the current program terms.
